Get Hungry for Change!
What is a Fast-a-Thon? One of the most successful national student programs in recent history, the Fast-a-thon has grown each year: last year, about 250 campuses participated, exemplifying values of compassion and charity by actively striving to eliminate hunger and homelessness in their communities.
“Do a good deed, feed those in need." We encourage UC students and faculty to go a day (sunrise to sunset) without eating any food so that someone else can. In return for everyone who fasts local sponsors will donate at least one dollar for each participant. All of the money raised will go directly to the local charity organization, St. Vincent DePaul.
How it works. Sign up either online (coming soon) or with a pledge form. On Nov. 5th, 2009 students and faculty will fast from sunrise to sunset. This means no drinking, eating, smoking or chewing gum. Afterwards, around 5pm, there will be a free international dinner for all participants. For each person who fast local sponsors will donate at least one dollar. In summery all you have to do is sign up!
